Christmas has been taking up so much room in the newspapers. Why do adults have to fuss so much over it so much. Christmas is a simple and pure concept of a baby being born in a manger. People commented online on the chance that there won't be a white Christmas, saying snow sucks, they want the road to be clear, and that they would take the cold and rain over snow any day. The evidence (this is not good for this lightning guy)!
Christmas, not to mention life, isn't about clear roads, not shovelling snow, or even not having car accidents!
Once again tedium has struck and made its Christmas curmudgeons, hating on the most innocent and happy of holidays. Christmas from many views is supposedly a commercial gimmick, a last-minute shopping rampage, the most stressful holiday, and a time where you need to buy new clothes to fit your post-holiday-binging self.
The moms lined up at check-out lanes I see don`t seem all merry, they look impatient, irritable, and sleep-deprived, like they`ve worked through their winter break.
With the new technology, people are supposedly not taking the time to send out and hand-write their Christmas cards. Quote from the comic Sherman`s lagoon, `you`re not saying season`s greetings, you`re saying you`re on my database.` Actually many comics are taking the slant of `Christmas ain`t what it used to be`.
Sometimes I wonder what Christmas used to be. Maybe it was the time when Enya played on radio stations; in other words, unimaginable. Sometimes I think of running in the snowy, unshovelled side-walks and shouting MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone I pass, and in that fantasy, they would smile a little and hopefully reminiscence to Christmases part. I`m a bit too old for that, but I think even if a little, really cute kid did that, it wouldn`t touch adults` hearts and make their day as it did in your mind`s eye. Yesterday at the library a little chinese kid was singing Feliz Navida and it was really cute, but then disillusioning when I saw him later playing games on the library`s computer. And then he checked facebook.
Personally I never felt the joy of Christmas as it is in cartoons and captured as a beautiful moment on film. Now I`d be thinking about how some people in my neighbourhood are so lazy to not put up decorations on their houses. Christmas now seems like an ordinary day, misspent like all the others. And it doesn`t seem special, i don`t know if it ever did, at least not to me.
But oh wait. It`s Christmas. it`s the most wonderful time of the year. Why are you and me wasting it?
